Former capital of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya for over 400 years and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Wat Mahathat: See the world-famous Buddha head entwined in the roots of a sacred Bodhi tree.
  • Wat Chaiwatthanaram: A riverside temple, perfect for golden-hour photography.
  • Ayutthaya Historical Park: Explore palace ruins and Wat Phra Si Sanphet, once the grandest temple of the old capital.

With a Local Guide

  • Knows the best order of temples to avoid crowds and heat.
  • Short, memorable explanations instead of boring dates.
  • Tips for dress code, etiquette, and photography.
  • Help with tickets and transport so you don’t waste time getting lost.

Verdict: comfort plus context is the difference between a quick visit and a day you still talk about years later.

Essential Trip Information

Quick answers on timing, dress code, transport, fees, and booking.

Yes. Ayutthaya is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a former capital for over 400 years. You can visit on your own, but a local guide adds context, legends, and the small details that make ruins feel alive.

Yes. It is roughly 80 km north of Bangkok and usually takes about 1 to 2 hours depending on transport. A private van is the easiest door to door option.

Early morning around 07:00 or 08:00 is best for cooler air and fewer crowds. Late afternoon is great for photos, especially at riverside temples during golden hour.

Shoulders and knees should be covered for both men and women. Light breathable fabrics help in the heat. If you are unsure, read our full guide: Ayutthaya dress code.

Many major temples charge about 50 THB per person for international visitors. Fees are paid at the gate and are not included in tour prices.

Send an inquiry first with your date, where you are staying, group size, and preferred tour. We require a small deposit via Stripe, with the remaining balance payable in cash (THB) to your guide on the day.
